“Christmas Under the Arch” rings in the holiday season!
42 spirited Villagers recently boarded their chartered coach for three event-filled days in St. Louis, Missouri. “Christmas Under the Arch” was the latest fund raising excursion offered by the Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village.
According to seasoned traveler Norm Bushee, “I can’t think of a better way to kick off the holiday season than from the top of that 630 foot engineering marvel! What a view from the Arch – and what a great trip!”.
The keynote activity was a night at the 4,200 seat Fabulous Fox Theater, for an on-stage performance of ‘Christmas with the Rat Pack’. “I have never before seen a more ornate or majestic theater. Just seeing that 5,000 pound jeweled chandelier was worth the trip”, said trip co-host Caryl Joy Young.
Other trip events included a tour of the historic Anheuser Brewery, a visit to Forest Park and its highly rated Missouri History Museum, fantastic dinners in LeClede Landing and the St. Louis Little Italy areas, and a shopping spree at the upscale Plaza Frontenac. And a laughter-filled dinner in Sikeston, Missouri – at Lamberts ‘Home of the throwd’ rolls’ – was the perfect last stop.
According to Rotarian Paul Bridges, Christmas Under the Arch Trip Host, “the wheels are already turning for Rotary’s next fund-raising excursion’. We simply have too many people on the waiting list – and too much fun to be had – to stop now”.
